In most cases, a cover letter can often be seen more
important than your résumé. Your résumé is very important, however,
cover letters are required because employers want to see and "read" how
effectively you are able to communicate your interests. Anyone can
submit a résumé, but the top questions are "Why do want this job"? "Why
do you want to work here"? It's very important that you ask yourself
these questions. Ask yourself and have good answers.
Cover
letters are sales letters. Cover letters tell the real story. It's your
advertising words that tell whether or whether not you are capable and
fit for the position. Cover letters are first impression and
introductions. In a lot of cases, the only ways résumé often get read
are from what is read in cover letters. Make sure what is read displays
who you really are. Display confidence when you write. Write your words
well.
Résumé are scanned through, briefly. Cover letters are
read in detail, line by line. It's been shown that employers make
decisions to interview based on how well the cover letter was written,
not the resume. Again, résumé are very, very important, but anyone can
design a résumé; besides a resume is simply an order of your
professional work and educational history. Cover letters explain in
detail WHY you want the job. Employers want to feel confident they are
not wasting their time with someone who simply wants a paycheck. They
want people that are willing to be long-term and want to grow and
thrive in the business.
